Today is a day that I’ll remember as long as I have memory. I had the great privilege of doing something this morning that previously had only entered my wishful thinking and my hope-so-maybe-one-day daydreams. I started my day by signing my name to a five-book contract with Gilead Publishing for books to be released over the next three years.
What joy it has been to work with the Gilead Publishing team for the release of CHRISTMAS AT GREY SAGE! (TO BE RELEASED OCTOBER 17) And now I get the added joy of working with these skilled and seasoned professionals for five more books. I can truly say that in a day when kindness seems in short supply, the Gilead Team treats writers and their stories kindly.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about the writing life brings me such incredible joy and pleasure. I couldn’t be more grateful for my marching orders in how I’ll be using my time for the next three years.
I tend to shy away from the camera, but I actually asked my husband to take my picture signing the contract. I wanted a visual reminder of how I really felt as the ink was drying. I hope you can see that I was very serious and attempted to maintain a modicum of decorum during the signing, but the photo Bill snapped immediately after the signing is the one that captured my truest feelings of joy. You can’t see my feet, but they’re at least a foot off the floor.
Now … on to my writing place where my laptop awaits. There in my chair that has cradled me for eleven years of writing, I’ll visit new places and meet new characters with stories to tell, and I have the great privilege of telling them and telling the Truth at the same time. How blessed I am!
